6th Annual Occ-tober Symposia Webinar Series on Occupational Health & Disease Prevention:
Impact = Knowledge + Change + Action

We are experiencing the impact of one of the most significant occupational diseases of our time.  The increased awareness of the general public regarding occupational disease, risk assessment  and control of potential  hazards in the workplace and at home is one of the positive outcomes of this unprecedented pandemic.

Please join us for this 6th Annual Event supporting the Occupational Disease Action Plan (ODAP) which aligns the efforts of the Occupational Health and Safety System and partners toward Occupational Disease Prevention and minimizing hazardous exposures in Ontario workplaces in order to reduce the incidence and burden of occupational disease whether chronic/long latency or more acute/infectious.   This year will be held virtually in a series of shorter webinars the 5 Fridays in October.

95% Confidence Interval (CI)

95% Confidence Interval (CI) is a range of values (upper and lower) that you can be 95% certain contains the true mean of the population.

Relative Risk (RR)

The relative risk is a comparison of the risk of getting lung cancer for those exposed to diesel exhaust compared to those who have never been exposed to diesel exhaust – for example, if the relative risk is 1.5, it means that for the cumulative diesel exhaust exposure entered into the calculator, the risk associated with that exposure is 1.5 times higher than the background risk of lung cancer for those who have not been occupationally exposed to diesel exhaust.
