Asbestos remains by far the major killer of workers worldwide. Although progress has been made toward a global ban, asbestos is still used in many countries. And even in countries with a ban, prevention measures are still insufficient to protect millions of workers exposed to legacy asbestos. In response, WHWB has formed an Asbestos Working Group. We have organized three webinars – the first on the extent of the hazard, the second on prevention measures, controls and efforts to achieve a global ban and the third on technical issues relating to asbestos management and remediation.
