Eastern Region Ottawa Clinic
Occupational Health Clinics for Ontario Workers (OHCOW) is dedicated to the identification and prevention of work-related illnesses and injuries. The first OHCOW Clinic opened in Hamilton in 1989. There are now seven Clinics in Ontario funded by the Ministry of Labour (MOL). Each Clinic has an Executive Director and is staffed by a dedicated inter-disciplinary team of occupational specialists. On Thursday January 21st, 2016, the newest and seventh OHCOW clinic was officially opened by the Minister of Labour for Ontario, Kevin Flynn as well as the Chair of the OHCOW Board of Director, David Chezzi. Many concerns have been expressed throughout the years in regards to musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) as well as occupational diseases throughout this region. Injured workers throughout the Eastern region of Ontario can now look forward to be serviced in Ottawa. Major communities include: Ottawa, Kingston, Cornwall, Belleville, Hawkesbury, Alexandria, Chalk River, Petawawa, Rockland, Smith Falls, Embrun, Morrisburg, Winchester and more. The principal industries of our catchment area are the public service, manufacturing, hi tech industries, agriculture, forestry, construction and more. We partner with workers, employers, unions, and advocates. We provide the expertise to assist in the identification and elimination of occupational injuries and illnesses in the workplaces of our catchment area.
